Styles & languages workflow

Styles & languages manages the catalog every rewrite resolves --style and --language from. The app holds no list of its own: it asks the installed CLI with skryba style list and skryba language list when the window opens and after every change here, and the Rewrite pickers offer exactly what those commands returned.

Form

Two segmented pickers choose the list (Styles or Output languages) and the command (List, Add, Change, Remove).

Command Controls CLI invocation
List none skryba style list
Add name field, instruction editor skryba style add <NAME> --instruction <TEXT>
Change entry picker, instruction editor seeded with the entry's current instruction skryba style edit <NAME> --instruction <TEXT>
Remove entry picker skryba style remove <NAME>

With Output languages selected the group is language instead of style. Switching list or command clears the name and the instruction. Run is blocked with the app's own sentences:

  • Name the style. / Name the language.
  • Write the instruction the generator and the judge will follow.
  • Choose the style to remove. / Choose the language to remove.

Result

Stdout decodes as the catalog report. The panel shows the catalog file, then every entry with its instruction for List, or the one entry added, changed or removed. An unchanged edit says The instruction was already this text; nothing changed. After a successful change the app lists both catalogs again, so the next rewrite offers the new entry; an entry the Rewrite form had selected and that no longer exists falls back to preserve.

Failure

A nonzero exit shows the CLI's stderr verbatim, so every refusal on the catalog page appears here unaltered — a malformed name, a duplicate, an empty instruction, an unknown name, or removing preserve. When listing fails at launch, the Rewrite options show the CLI's sentence in place of the entry's instruction; an older CLI without skryba style fails this way.
