Desktop Import workflow
Import document is available from both Score and Rewrite and is also a required, actionable step in first use. It opens the native file chooser for any file; Skryba decides from the file's content, not its extension, whether it is a draft.
One owner
The desktop does not decode or copy the file itself. It invokes skryba draft import <PATH> and decodes the CLI's DraftImportReport. Only an imported or unchanged report carrying a retained draft is accepted. The exact text returned by Skryba is placed in the normal input editor, so the next Run uses it for Score or Rewrite without a second parser or an automatic model call.
The import command and its refusal are visible through the same process boundary as every other workflow. Import needs no detector or Brama credential and never scores, rewrites, commissions work, or changes the author's prose.
Duplicate and conflict behavior
An identical import from the same canonical source path is unchanged and reopens the retained text. Different content at that path is a conflict; the previous draft and current editor remain intact. Keep both versions repeats the owner command with --new-version, which inserts the changed text as another retained version instead of overwriting the first.
Retained drafts
Under the import row, Retained drafts lists what Skryba holds, as skryba draft list answers it: source name, character count and source path, with no text. Open runs skryba draft show <ID> and places the exact retained text in the input, the same way an import does. Remove asks first — the window's form of the CLI's --yes — and then runs skryba draft remove <ID> --yes; the retained text is deleted from the draft store and the file it came from is not touched. After an acknowledged removal the list is read again. A refused removal keeps the current list and its exact failure under that list: it does not immediately issue a successful listing that erases the failure. A later successful Open or removal clears the error. The same three commands are what a person has in a terminal; the window adds no second store.
Refusals
The input and the drafts are unchanged when the path is unreadable, names a directory, is not valid UTF-8, is empty after trimming, or cannot be written to the drafts table of Skryba's fleet database. The CLI's exact message appears under the input. Closing the file chooser performs no action.
First use and replay
The first-run import step advances only after skryba draft import returns an imported or unchanged durable record. A conflict offers Keep both versions before it can advance. The following Score step receives the imported text and remains the first-success observation; no paid detection happens during import. Skipping the walkthrough leaves an empty, usable workspace. Show it again returns to the same import path later.
